Social Tourism, a means to help others while you are on vacation.

There is a lot of talk these days about social tourism. The term social tourism involves people spending their vacation helping others. For example medical brigades are often made up of medical professionals who pay to come to Honduras to give back and help others. Another example are tours that support conservation such as replanting trees, or helping build houses and water systems.

All of these types of social tourism usually requires skills that many people lack. So what do you do if you don't have special skills, yet still want to help others?

Make your vacation dollars really count.

Check out Paramedics For Children (PFC) and the unique program they have, that combines an incredible experience with a wonderful vacation.

Tour guide Rodger Harrison, president, PFC

The PFC school supply tour is one of the hottest things to hit Copan Ruinas in years. Imagine an exclusive tour of 26 mountain villages and schools where you get the opportunity to give much needed school supplies to over 1,600 poor Mayan Chorti children. This tour is very affordable, and exclusive. On this tour you will spend 7 days working in areas that are seldom seen by the average tourist. No special skills are required, only the desire to help others. To minimize the impact on the mountain families the group cannot be larger then 8 people. There are 8 trips per year and this involves the delivery of 6,500 packages of school supplies. The best part of this story is that 100% of all you tourist dollars goes to help support the PFC programs that bring aid to the poor.

The tour is all inclusive and covers all meals, rooms at the
Hacienda La Esperanza, tours of the Mayan Ruins, as well as the mountain trips, and all other in country transportation. In addition to this the entire trip is tax deductible due to the fact that PFC is a 501 (c) (3) charity. For more information click here
